Special Guest Attends Birmingham Nurse Pinning Ceremony

Recent LPN graduate, James Wanjiru, was officially pinned on September 18, 2016. What he couldn't know is that the ceremony would be attended by Ms. Small, the widow of one of Wanjiru's patients at his day job. Ms. Small attended Wanjiru's day of celebration to show appreciation for the the hard work and professionalism he showed when taking care of her late husband. Wanjiru sets an example among his peers and continuously gave his all while managing work and school. Congrats to James and all of Birmingham's new nursing graduates!

Herzing Orlando students and faculty volunteer at Ronald McDonald House

Herzing University-Orlando students and faculty volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House at Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando on Friday, September 16, 2016. The group participated in the share a meal program where volunteers go into the house and cook a meal for the families staying there.

Herzing University Announces Enhanced Business Program Curriculum

Evolving with today’s changing business environment, Herzing University is introducing a redesigned business curriculum that includes enhancements to both its undergraduate and graduate programs. The changes take affect with the fall 2016 semester, beginning this September, and are designed to better align with current and future business employer needs.  

Herzing University Giving Backpacks to Thousands of Children Nationwide

The week of August 11 to 18, Herzing University campuses nationwide gave away thousands of backpacks full of school supplies to children to help them prepare for the upcoming school year.

Most of the backpacks were given away at events on August 11. The events hosted a variety of activities, including carnival games and free haircuts for children and resume workshops for adults. This is an expansion of a program Herzing University began last year at campuses in Akron and Toledo, Ohio.

Atlanta Campus Hosts Healthcare Career Fair for Senior Healthcare Students and Graduates

Current seniors and graduates gathered at Herzing University’s Atlanta campus on Tuesday, August 9, for the first annual Healthcare Career Fair. As a part of Herzing University’s focus to prepare students for the workforce, Herzing’s healthcare faculty and Career Services Department presented the fair for current senior healthcare students and graduates who have earned a degree in a healthcare program from Herzing University.

Herzing University Professor Honored for Distinguished Service by Florida Health Information Management Association

The Florida Health Information Management Association has presented author, educator and healthcare professional Dr. Shelley Safian its 2016 Distinguished Service Award.

The association award, which recognizes members and non-members who have spearheaded and completed outstanding service projects through the association, was presented at its annual conference last month.

Herzing University Professor Receives National Award from American Medical Technologists

The American Medical Technologists presented longtime member, educator and State of Missouri AMT President Alberta Smith its 2016 national award for Exceptional Merit in the allied health profession.

The award, which is only given to members who have served the AMT for at least seven years and made significant contributions to the organization, was presented at an AMT conference last month.

Herzing Madison MBA Grad Featured in UMOJA Magazine

Congratulations to Keetra Burnette, who was featured in July 2016's issue of UMOJA Magazine. Burnette graduated with an MBA from Herzing University-Madison, with a concentration in project management. She was the recipient of a scholarship from Herzing University's partnership with the Urban League of Greater Madison. As the Senior Director of Community Impact with the United Way in Dana County, Burnette is already using her degree to build strategic partnerships and benefit the community.
