Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information
In alignment with the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency on May 11, 2023, Herzing University will no longer require contact tracing for any courses, including clinical-based courses beginning in the Summer 2023 semester.
We encourage all members of the University community to refer to the CDC website for official Coronavirus (COVID-19) information. Please continue to refer to this site for Herzing University resources and updates. Additionally, students who have tested positive for COVID-19 are requested to notify their instructor and follow CDC guidelines for quarantine and/or isolation. Herzing faculty will work with students to provide a make-up plan for any missed coursework in accordance with the policy outlined in the Herzing Catalog.
Clinical Vaccination Requirements
Herzing University does not generally require any specific immunizations beyond those requirements that may be imposed by state or federal law. However, if it is determined that a public health situation arises that warrants implementation of a vaccination requirement, such requirements will be communicated out to students as soon as possible.
Most healthcare programs at Herzing University that include a clinical site or internship/externship component may require proof of vaccination against certain diseases prior to participation in the clinical or internship/externship courses, including COVID-19 vaccination. Individual program requirements are communicated in advance of attendance in the relevant course and may change at any point.

FAQs Regarding COVID-19 at Herzing University
What should I do if I test positive for the virus?
Students should follow CDC guidelines pertaining to COVID-19 and are encouraged to notify their instructor(s) and Academic Dean for academic support if needed. The University has resources in place to support students who test positive for COVID19.
What should I do if I have been exposed at work but am not showing symptoms. Am I allowed to come to campus?
Students who have been exposed should continue to follow CDC guidelines before returning to campus. Students in clinical-based courses should only return to clinical sites after they follow quarantine protocols, have a negative test, and meet all campus SAFE requirements.
Will COVID‐19 affect disbursements for the classes I am currently taking or scheduled to take?
No. Herzing University Financial Aid and Student Accounts departments are still working regularly scheduled hours to ensure that funds are disbursed as scheduled. For more information on our disbursement schedule visit: https://www.herzing.edu/disbursement‐schedules
What if I need to change my schedule due to COVID‐19? How will that affect my financial aid?
If you need to change your schedule for any reason, including COVID‐19, you should reach out to your Student Services Advisor. They will advise you on the best course of action related to your schedule and can connect you with a Financial Aid Advisor to answer any questions about your package.

How can I find out if my interest rate changed on an existing loan?
All loans owned by the U.S. Department of Education (ED) will have interest waived without requiring any action from borrowers. This includes Direct Loans as well as Federal Perkins Loans and Federal Family Education Loans (FFEL) Program loans held by ED. Please note that some FFEL Program loans are owned by commercial lenders and are not eligible for this benefit at this time. Reach out to your loan servicer for more information.

What if I can’t make my monthly payment for tuition?
Herzing University understands the potential impact that COVID‐19 may have on income and employment. Students should reach out to their campus’ Financial Aid department with any questions regarding payments.

HEERFIII provides funding for emergency grant payments for students which can be used for any component of the student’s cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or child care. The ARP requires that institutions prioritize students with exceptional need, such as students who receive Pell Grants, and authorizes grants to students exclusively enrolled in distance education.
Students with Exceptional Need
Students defined as having exceptional need are those who meet the below eligibility requirements and have Pell disbursements scheduled or paid from the 2020-2021 or 2021-2022 award year. These students will receive a grant in the amount of $2,300 from ARP funds.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be active in a degree or certificate program as of 8/31/2021
- Students on approved break are eligible as long enrollment in eligible program is confirmed
- Students enrolled in a program that is not Title IV eligible are not eligible (NDS, BHM CEMT, Dual enrollment)
- Be a U.S. citizen or national, permanent resident, or other eligible noncitizen.
- Have received or are scheduled to receive Pell Grant funding at Herzing University from the 20-21 or 21-22 Federal Award Year.
Students without Exceptional Need
Students defined as not having exceptional need are those who meet the below eligibility criteria and will not have Pell disbursements scheduled or paid from the 2020-2021 or 2021-2022 award year.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be active in any Herzing University program as of the date of the final eligibility list
- Students on approved break are eligible
- Have not received nor are scheduled to receive HEERF III funds in tranche 1
- Have not received nor are scheduled to receive Pell Grant funding at Herzing University from the 20-21 or 21-22 Federal Award Year.

If you or your family’s financial situation has changed significantly from what is reflected on your FAFSA or federal income tax return (for example, if you’ve lost a job or otherwise experienced a drop in income), you may be eligible to have your financial aid adjusted. The American Rescue Plan (ARP) Sec. 2003(a)(1) included additional COVID-19 relief for institutions of higher education was signed into law March 11, 2021. This new COVID stimulus bill included for higher education institutions and students, using the same Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) model established in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Herzing University has received funding as part of the American Rescue Plan (ARP) via the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF). As required by law, a portion of these funds have been designated to be financial aid grants to students with financial needs as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Under the ARP (a)(1) programs, student portion funds must be used to provide financial aid grants to students (including students exclusively enrolled in distance education) which may be used for any component of the student's cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or child care.
The ARP HEERF III funds require that 50% of an institution's funds be spent on student grants. In addition, the allowable uses of funds are nearly identical to the CRRSA HEERF II.

HEERFII provides funding for emergency grant payments for students which can be used for any component of the student’s cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or child care. Unlike the CARES Act, the CRRSAA requires that institutions prioritize students with exceptional need, such as students who receive Pell Grants, and authorizes grants to students exclusively enrolled in distance education.
Students who met eligibility requirements as of 3/5/2021 will receive a payment of $1,000 from the HEERF II fund.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be active in a degree or certificate program as of 3/5/2021
- Students on approved break are eligible as long enrollment in eligible program is confirmed
- Students enrolled in a program that is not Title IV eligible are not eligible for this tranche (NDS, BHM CEMT, Dual enrollment)
- Be a U.S. citizen or national, permanent resident, or other eligible noncitizen.
- Have received or are scheduled to receive Pell Grant funding at Herzing University from the 20-21 Federal Award Year.

Herzing University provided eligible students funding from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) of the CARES Act beginning in the summer 2020 semester. The Department of Education informed institutions that emergency grant awards could only be made to students:
- Who were not enrolled exclusively in online programs on March 13, 2020; and
- Who are or could be eligible for Federal Student Aid under Title IV of the Higher Education Act.
- Had eligible expenses that were in direct relation to the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus beginning on March 13, 2020
Students must have been actively participating in coursework to be eligible for disbursement of emergency funds (i.e. Summer 2020 semester attendance is required). Specific award information was emailed to students via their Herzing student email.
