Earn credit where credit is due
Veterans and military servicemen and women possess strong skill sets and diverse real-world experiences. That's why we recognize military training as prior learning credits and give college credit for Military Occupational Specialties (MOS).
Whether you plan to pursue career advancement in the military or prepare for a future in the civilian workforce, Herzing University is uniquely qualified to help military students maximize their education benefits and use advanced education to their strategic advantage.
A prior learning assessment begins the process of determining how much credit you may transfer.
Military expertise in related fields can translate to additional credit and a shorter time to completion.
Credit transferred from prior college courses and military experience accelerates your path to graduation.

Transcript review policy
Herzing University uses the Joint Statement on the Transfer and Award of Credit created by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, the American Council on Education, and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as a guideline for evaluating and awarding the transfer of credit.

Inter-institutional transfer of credit
Transfer of credit from one institution to another involves at least three considerations:
- the educational quality of the learning experience which the student transfers;
- the comparability of the nature, content, and level of the learning experience offered by the receiving institution; and
- the appropriateness and applicability of the learning experience to the programs offered by the receiving institution, in light of the student's educational goals.
In addition, the student must have demonstrated understanding of the course material by earning a grade of C or better in classes taken at a prior college or university. Please note that while Herzing University will try to apply as many incoming credits as possible, credits earned in subjects not directly relating to the program you wish to study may not be applied to that program. For example, healthcare classes would not correlate with a technology degree but may be applied toward the elective requirements for a technology degree until that requirement is filled. For an individual evaluation of your credits, please call a Military Specialist Admissions Advisor at 800-596-0724.
For all service branches, except for the Air Force, request that your Official Joint Services Transcript be sent to Herzing University. To request Official Air Force Transcripts, contact the Air Force Field Assistance Services at 877-596-5771, option 1.
Other important information to know:
Department of Defense (DoD)
Herzing University is a signatory of the Department of Defense (DoD) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The DoD policy requires educational institutions to sign an MOU conveying the commitment and agreement between the educational institution and DoD prior to an educational institution receiving funds from a service's tuition assistance (TA) program. Through this agreement, Herzing will provide meaningful information to students about financial cost and attendance, will not use deceptive recruiting practices, will provide service members with a joint services transcript (JST) and will continue to provide academic and student support services to service members and their families. Whether you are a military veteran or actively serving at home, abroad, or at sea, we’re committed to helping you succeed in your studies. For more information, visit www.dodmou.com.
American Council on Education (ACE)
ACE will convert your military training into the college course equivalent. From this, we will be able to determine how your military training can transfer into course credit. For more information regarding ACE and how to get your military training evaluated, visit their web site: www.acenet.edu/news-room/Pages/Military-Guide-Online.aspx.
CLEP/DANTES credit
We will accept credit for satisfactory scores on CLEP exams via CLEP Transcripts. We will also accept credit recommended by ACE for military service members who have passing scores on DSST program tests (formerly called the DANTES Subject Standardized Tests) administered by DANTES military test centers. DANTES scores must be indicated on transcripts issued by the military services. www.dantes.doded.mil
