Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students Disclosure

The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 (CRRSAA) authorized the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) which included additional funds to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students and for institutions of higher education to defray expenses associated with coronavirus.
The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARP) was signed into law on March 11, 2021. ARP authorized the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III), which included additional funds to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students and for institutions of higher education to defray expenses associated with coronavirus.
Herzing University is making the following information available for transparency purposes and in accordance to guidance issued by the U.S. Department of Education. For questions on this disclosure, please contact us at consumerinfo@herzing.edu.
(1) An acknowledgement that the institution signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used the applicable amount of funds designated under the CRRSSA and ARP programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.
Herzing University acknowledges that our institution signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement on 4/14/2020. Herzing University will use no less than $2,164,417 of the funds received under CRRSAA to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
Herzing University acknowledges that our institution signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement on 4/14/2020. Herzing University will use no less than $11,269,947 of the funds received under ARP (a)(1) program to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
2) The total amount of funds that the institution will receive or has received from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the CRRSSA and ARP programs.
The total amount of funds that Herzing University received from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the CRRSSA is $10,441,249.
The total amount of funds that Herzing University received from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the ARP (a)(1) program is $11,269,947.
3) The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under the CRRSSA and ARP programs as of the date of submission for the applicable quarter (i.e., as of the initial report and every calendar quarter thereafter).
During the quarter ending March 31, 2022, the total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants that have been distributed to students under the CRRSSA program is $0.
During the quarter ending March 31, 2022, the total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants that have been distributed to students under the ARP program is $0.
(4) The estimated total number of students at the institution that are eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the CRRSSA and ARP programs.
During the quarter ending March 31, 2022, Herzing University has estimated that 0 students are eligible to receive an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under the CRRSSA program.
During the quarter ending March 31, 2022, Herzing University has estimated that 0 students are eligible to receive an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under the ARP program.
5) The total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under the CRRSSA and ARP programs.
During the quarter ending March 31, 2022, 0 students have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under the CRRSSA program.
During the quarter ending March 31, 2022, 0 students have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under the ARP program.
6) The method(s) used by the institution to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive under the CRRSSA and ARP programs.
Herzing University will prioritize students with exceptional need in awarding Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under the CRRSSA program. Herzing University has defined students with exceptional need as those who:
- Are active in a program of study as of 3/5/2021
- Students on approved break are eligible as long enrollment in eligible program is confirmed
- Students enrolled in a program that is not Title IV eligible are not eligible (NDS, BHM CEMT, Dual enrollment)
- Are a U.S. citizen or national, permanent resident, or other eligible noncitizen.
- Have received or are scheduled to receive Pell Grant funding at Herzing University from the 2020-21 Federal Award Year.
Students defined as having exceptional need shall each be awarded a grant of $1,000.
Herzing University will prioritize students with exceptional need in awarding Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under the ARP program. Herzing University has defined students with exceptional need as those who:
- Are active in a program of study as of 8/31/2021; and
- Have received or are scheduled to receive a Pell disbursement at Herzing University in any semester from the 2020-21 or 2021-22 award year.
Students with exceptional need are awarded a block grant in the amount of $2,300.
The remaining ARP funds will be distributed evenly among eligible students determined not to have exceptional need.
- Are active in a program of study as of 8/31/2021; and
- Have not received nor are scheduled to receive a Pell disbursement at Herzing University in any semester from the 2020-21 or 2021-22 award year.
Students without exceptional need are awarded a block grant in the amount of $900.
7) Any instructions, directions, or guidance provided by the institution to students concerning the Emergency Financial Aid Grants.
Herzing University provided the following information to students concerning the CRRSSA program Emergency Financial Aid Grants.
- Beginning March 16, 2021 students were notified of HEERF II funding available via the Herzing University website as well as individualized email communications.
- March 18 – April 2, 2021 the questionnaire providing students options for electronic funds deposit or to apply funds directly to their ledger is open for completion
Herzing University provided the following information to students concerning the ARP Program Emergency Financial Aid Grants.
- On September 24, 2021 students were notified of HEERF III funding available via the Herzing University website as well as individualized email communications.
