I really started to think seriously about my degree when a merger took place in my company. I knew that earning my degree would open more opportunities where I currently worked, and I wanted to make a change. I decided to take classes because I wanted to be more focused on the HR side of the business, and needed help getting there.
My main challenge was balancing full-time school with a full-time job and family. Thankfully, my family was there to help and put aside time for me to ensure I was successful in my schoolwork. Herzing offers their classes year-round as well, so I was able to continuously work toward my goal.
I was promoted to an entry-level HR position shortly after I began classes, and now I want to progress to the next level. I have my degree and the advantage of working in this field for 3 1/2 years, which gives me a little bit of an edge over the competition. It’s a great feeling and accomplishment.
If I can graduate college 35 years after high school, anyone can make it happen!
