I wanted to become an administrator of a nursing home after being a CNA for eight years. I love working with the elderly, and I needed a degree that would help me do just that. One of my friends had suggested Herzing to me, and I decided to give it a shot.
Throughout my time at Herzing, I found their entire staff to be helpful. Even though I was an online student, I never felt like there was a time that I needed help, and no one was there. This was greatly appreciated, as I’m also a mom to two boys and work full-time on top of taking classes.
It was hard trying to find a balance between all these factors, but studying online really helped me work at my own pace. It also cut back on the cost of gas and time wasted commuting to a physical campus. Even without the physical location, I found myself learning well and found that they were all very helpful to my career.
In particular, I found conflict resolution to be the most important. To be a leader and boss over a facility, you have to understand how to handle conflict.
Honestly, what surprised me most was simply that I made it to the finish line. It was tough, but I didn’t give up, and you shouldn’t either! When you feel like you’re losing, don’t forget to reach out to the staff for help – they will be there! Herzing is a great university for anyone to attend.
