I developed a passion for working with people from different backgrounds in my previous career as a teacher. I realized that a Human Resource career would enhance my opportunity to work with people directly, so I decided to get a degree in HR. I was intrigued by Herzing's flexible schedules that accommodated my full-time job while going to school, so I jumped in!
My admissions advisor, professors, academic advisors and financial aid advisors were all helpful throughout my journey at Herzing. Herzing's efficient and flexible schedules made it possible for me to get my degree in no time, all while working a full-time job. Time management was my biggest challenge during my program, but I managed to overcome this by effectively managing my work-school schedule. Every course was critical in preparing me for my future career but none were comparable to my experience in my Capstone Project and Employment Law class. That course will stick with me for quite some time.
For now, I will continue to work for my current employer for a couple of years then eventually pursue my master’s degree. My advice for current students is to be focused on their goals and align them with Herzing's P.R.I.C.E of success model.
Understand the weekly learning objectives and make sure you complete each task in time. Turn in assignments on time while responding to the weekly discussions as required. These are some simple tips to being successful in Herzing!
