I chose the medical assisting program due to my passion for looking out for others and their health. I am generally a caring person and was happy to learn that Herzing had helpful people there too.
The person that helped me most at Herzing was Ms. Kristen Brady. She not only helped me academically but made sure that I maintained my GPA throughout the semester. I’d also like to give a shout-out to all of my instructors throughout this program, as they were very helpful too!
While studying, the greatest challenge I faced was locating an externship site. Ultimately, I overcame that with a little persistence and found the one that was right for me.
The courses that were most valuable to me were Clinical 1 and Clinical 2. They both provided an idea of what it's like to work in the medical field. It was during them that I was taught the do's and don’ts of the clinic and how to perform other important tasks such as taking vital signs and administering injections.
Herzing inspired me in so many ways and helped me achieve my goals no matter what. They are always there to offer a helping hand when needed. They helped me through the good and bad so that I could overcome the hardest challenges I was presented with. Herzing is the place to be!
Currently, I’m looking for job opportunities in the medical field while planning to go back to school to become an RN.
The advice that I have for other upcoming students is this: never give up! You can do anything you put your mind toward -- don’t forget that!
