I have been in the healthcare field for 26 years. I worked as a medical assistant and phlebotomist for eight years, an emergency tech in the hospital for five years, and the last 13 years I’ve been a registered nurse and a critical care transport nurse. I decided to enroll in Herzing University because I was ready to advance my degree and take the next step in my nursing career.
I loved that my courses were 100 percent online and I was able to do my clinical right in my hometown in New Jersey. One challenge I faced was finding a job that was not too demanding so I could focus on my education. I was able to complete my studies in 27 months and graduate with honors.
I plan to obtain a post-master's emergency room certificate and a holistic nursing certificate. In a year or two, I plan to continue my education and earn my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). My advice for other nursing students would be to not give up, keep furthering your career and bettering your life, and work hard to fulfill your dreams.
