I’ve always had a passion for helping others, so nursing seemed like the right career choice for me. I loved the positive vibes from Herzing University staff and students, so I decided to enroll.
Unfortunately, in the middle of my education, I found out that I had breast cancer. As a result of this, I had many hurdles when it came to my health that I had to overcome throughout my journey.
Thankfully, all the professors and staff I had helped me through these issues and struggles in so many ways. Professor Frierson, Professor Ruiz and ESPECIALLY Professor Smythe were all so incredible!
Professor Frierson helped me overcome many fears and helped me grow the confidence in myself that I once lacked. Professor Ruiz was an inspiring teacher that pushed me to my limits every time and took me out of my comfort zone to help me grow. Professor Smythe saved my life – literally! If it wasn’t for her, I would have never found my breast cancer.
I can’t believe that I’m finally done, even after everything I’ve been through. My advice for future students is to just keep going and never give up no matter what life throws at you. You can do it and you can always reach your goals and dreams if you just don’t give up, even when the world seems to be against you.
Now that I’m officially a grad, I hope to enroll in an ASN program with Herzing in the future to advance my career.
