I aspired to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse, knowing it would be challenging to balance work, family, and school. Choosing Herzing gave me the confidence that it was possible.
Earning my degree posed challenges, especially juggling full-time school, clinicals, working, and managing home life as a wife and mother of three. I overcame this by adjusting my work hours, creating a schedule, and prioritizing time for studying, utilizing my resources effectively.
Herzing has helped me complete my studies by having night classes, a non-daily schedule, and a hybrid program. Courses like pharmacology, medical surgical 1 & 2, preparation for NCLEX-PN, and clinical experiences prepared me for my career. These experiences provided a deep understanding of diseases, drugs, treatments, interventions, and hands-on patient care.
My husband and children were my biggest motivators, pushing and supporting me when I felt overwhelmed. Professors G, Erin, Therese, Dulin, and Howard at Herzing were my cheerleaders, teaching, motivating, and instilling confidence in me. Thanks to all of them, I was able to stay on track!
After graduation, my immediate goal is to pass the NCLEX and secure a position as an LPN, preferably in OBGYN. If not, I aim to apply my learned skills wherever possible. Eventually, I plan to return to school to become an RN and fulfill my dream of working as a labor and delivery nurse.
