As a mother of four children, I needed a program that would work alongside my job and home life. During my search for online programs, I came across Herzing University. Their Medical Assisting program fit my needs, so I decided to attend.
At the beginning of my enrollment, I was asked how I would like my classes to be set up. I decided to go with the full-time route and was advised to let them know if it was too much so they could adjust my classes. Having that choice was such a wonderful perk!
Finding time to study was a challenge. Thankfully, as an online student, I found studying to be flexible. As time went on, I got into my own routine and figured out what worked best for me.
All my teachers were helpful, and my academic advisor was amazing. They consistently reminded me when the upcoming term began and sent updates/check-ins during the term. I thought it was going to be a lot more difficult with the assignments and doing the hands-on courses, but everyone went out of their way to help me!
Overall, I’d say my proctorship, externship and Medical Assisting 101 were the most helpful courses in preparing me for my career.
Now that I’m a graduate, I’ll be getting to work at the same place I did my externship! I also plan on re-enrolling in school so I can earn my BSN.
Work hard toward your degree and don’t forget to reward yourself along the way. You can do it, even when you think it’s impossible!
