Journey Smith
In 2019, I attended my first college for just one semester. During that time, I was in a long-distance relationship, and my boyfriend proposed. We got married, and that sudden shift in life made me realize I wanted to be closer to my family. Searching for more flexible schools led me to discover Herzing, which turned out to be the perfect match for my needs!
Originally, I had only wanted to attend Herzing’s diploma program for eight months, but ultimately decided to stay for my ASN, which was two years. I was very happy with this choice!
I had a great time at Herzing, and everyone here supported me through so much. I may not have been a perfect student, but the teachers supported me and helped me find success when things got hard. I’m grateful for their help when things like mental health issues arose.
Dealing with depression and anxiety made it challenging to pursue my goals, but I persevered by reminding myself of the two daughters I had to keep pushing forward for. It proved effective, serving as a powerful motivator during tough times. Remember, in the face of adversity, continue fighting – you're stronger than you realize.
I’m a grad now, and I have multiple job opportunities on the horizon. I’m so excited for what’s next, and eventually, I want to go back to school and become a full-fledged nurse. This is such an exciting time!
