While searching for a school, I stumbled upon Herzing University. They stood out to me, so I decided to reach out for more information. They were extremely thorough and helpful with the process of getting me into classes. It was during this process that I realized that HR was my dream career and I decided to attend their human resource management program.
I was able to choose as many classes as I’d like to attend at once, and there were so many valuable ones I took! Professional Development I and II, Human Resource Information Systems, and Cultural Diversity were all highlights of the program. I’d like to shout out Professional Development in particular for how well it prepared me for job interviews!
Initially, I started as a part-time student, but eventually transitioned into full-time studies. Frankly, I was surprised at how well I had been doing in school, and that was such a wonderful feeling.
Sometimes I’d doubted myself, though. That’s when I’d turn to my awesome advisor, and he was always there to help. If there’s anything I’ve learned from him, and that others should know as well, it is that you should never give up!
Take your work one day at a time and work out your priorities. Never be afraid to reach out for help, and always use a variety of resources when you find yourself struggling. Lists help, so be sure to make one and check off assignments and other tasks you need to be completed. Last, but not least, don’t skip your Zoom meetings with instructors – they are so important to keep yourself on track!
Now that I’ve finished, I’m searching for a job. I just had an interview for an HR Development role, so fingers crossed I make it!
