During my search for a school, I decided that I wanted something that was related to healthcare and doable from home. I chose Herzing University’s Medical Billing and Coding program because of the online option and flexibility it provided. I was even able to still maintain a full-time job!
Taking online classes was challenging at first. I had to rely on myself to go over my work and assignments while finding the right method for my learning. Thankfully, I was able to choose how many classes I wanted to take each semester while my advisor provided support.
While learning, I found that I was amazed at how many different coding techniques for different specialty procedures there were. Attending college means you’ll receive a lot of information, but I tell other students to not get overwhelmed and it will all be all right. Even if it takes you some time to get the hang of it all, you’ll be able to do it. Don’t forget that the teachers are extremely helpful and would be more than happy to help you with questions and feedback!
As a grad, I’m looking to get my foot in the door somewhere within the year. I also would like to earn an additional certification or two and am excited to get to work!
