Since I was a young girl, I went to the Boys and Girls Club. They have supported me in life for quite some time. One day, they provided the opportunity to speak with representatives from Herzing University, and I immediately knew this was the school I wanted to attend.
Herzing is a place where I felt welcome. It offered me a unique educational experience as someone whose parents didn’t attend college. They crossed the border so I can have a better life, future, and opportunities. I wanted to prove to them I could succeed. I know that they’re proud of what I’ve become, and I wanted to pay it forward to them by succeeding.
I chose this degree path not only because I love working with people, but because I also had an interest in Human Resources. I've always wanted to work for a big company and make a difference for individuals, a team and a company. This seemed like the perfect way.
The staff and professors were helpful, especially when I started and was new to the school. They guided me, helped me fit in, were considerate and played a key role in motivating me. My classmates were also helpful and I’m glad I met them!
Throughout the pandemic, I was going through some tough mental health challenges. Time management was also an issue for me at the beginning of my studies. Thanks to the support I received at Herzing, I was able to work through these hardships.
I was able to complete my assignments on time and stick to a schedule that worked for me – it’s all about successful time management! My teachers supported me by offering words of encouragement and checking in on me to make sure I was keeping up. Thanks to their support and schedules, I was able to consistently turn my work in on time. I learned so much through this experience, and all of my courses proved valuable for my career.
I am not the same person I was when I first came to Herzing. Throughout my studies, I gained knowledge, skills, and experience that will help me in my career and life. I also gained additional skills in communication and problem-solving. I am not the quiet person that I was before, and I feel more confident than ever!
My advice to future students is to never give up, stay focused and stick with people that will help you reach your goals. Manage your time effectively, set up a schedule that will work for you to complete your assignments on time and don’t wait until the last minute to turn them in. There will be times when you will have to miss an event or party, but it is all worth it in the end because you will reach your goals!
Pursuing my degree at Herzing University has been a great experience and I’d recommend this university to any student.
