While I had already been working as a medical assistant for about a year, I found that I was continuously getting overlooked and not taken seriously due to my lack of certification. I knew that it was time to take the next step, and Herzing was the only school that gave me the second chance I needed to fulfill my education!
I received so much help from Herzing’s team during my studies. My advisors helped me understand financial aid, assisted in my job hunt and even helped me secure a crisis grant when I lost my job.
This grant was necessary because I found myself getting behind on bills and was even at risk of losing my home. By the grace of God, I received that stipend, and it allowed me to catch up on my rent and bills so I could focus solely on my education and 3-year-old son. Due to this experience, I can confidently say that Herzing accommodates students who have kids very well and will also be there for you when you need it most.
On top of all the help I received, I found that online classes made it easy to finish my courses without the stress traditional courses bring. I got my in-person experience via clinicals as well, and they provided the experience you need for this career. The program provided a great balance and left me feeling confident!
Once I graduate, I plan to travel as a medical assistant and return to nursing school in August. To all future students: don’t stop, don’t give up and keep pushing! You’ve got this!
