I chose to come to Herzing because I wanted to earn my BSN and the school’s reputation for this program was excellent. The process of starting went very smoothly, and I had my schedule available before enrollment. This meant that I could make proper arrangements for my coursework and in-person clinical experiences ahead of time.
While preparing for classes, I was told by Medical-Surgical units I knew that the coursework would be difficult. That was alright by me: going to school for nursing is a lifestyle change that should not be taken lightly, and I wanted to learn!
To keep up with an accelerated program, I found that I needed to modify my study habits. Thankfully, it all ultimately succeeded! I wouldn’t have found it without professors Giampetroni, Tinsley, Ahrens and Dulin who all gave excellent instruction and career guidance. Thanks for that!
My advice for future nursing students is to make sure that you and your family/social circle are ready for the changes you must make. Herzing would be the only school I would recommend to those making a career change, as I believe that they are the only school with realistic admissions requirements and a quality curriculum. They truly can properly handle someone looking to make a complete career change, which is not an easy thing to do.
I am currently in a student nurse position at a local hospital in Milwaukee. This position will eventually turn into an RN position once my boards are completed. Herzing’s Accelerated BSN program allowed me to change careers in a timely fashion, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
