I chose the MSN Family Nurse Practitioner program because I wanted to be able to advance my career. Herzing was able to transfer most of my MSN classes from my previous degree so I didn’t need to retake courses.
One major challenge I faced was finding an acceptable preceptor and it caused me a lot of uncertainty and stress. However, Herzing helped to coordinate my rotations and approve my preceptor so I could graduate on time. Consequently, my preceptorship became the most valuable experience of my education.
My advice to students is to take it one step at a time. Don't get discouraged and set unreasonable expectations for yourself. Life is going to happen, might as well keep moving toward your goals along the way.
