After getting laid off, I found a job working as an Unregistered Medical Assistant and found that I was good at it and loved it. After about two months of working in healthcare, I realized that I wanted to expand my knowledge and help my patients more through education.
With this in mind, I decided to attend Herzing because they were accredited and online. Attending a fully online program and having clinicals locally allowed me to continue working while going to school, which was great.
During my studies, I had a supervisor, Michelle Ruhser, that was always ready to help and willing to explain things when I needed it. Dr. Buswinka, a provider that I was working with, also inspired and helped me by answering questions that I didn't fully understand. Thank you both for your help!
While earning my degree, I was working full-time and had four children all under the age of six! To find a balance, I would work on homework whenever I had spare time. This included my lunch breaks and at night after the kids went to bed. Finding the time to complete your homework is a must!
My courses only last seven to eight weeks, and this helped speed up the program. All of my courses helped expand my knowledge and improve the way that I do my job.
Now that I’m a grad, I’m currently working as a Registered Medical Assistant and will submit my degree to my current employer. I know that my degree will come in handy as I continue to work toward bigger and better opportunities!
