Herzing University Named as 2017 Military Friendly® School
MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. (Nov. 29, 2016) – Herzing University, an accredited private nonprofit institution with 11 campuses in eight states and an online division, announced today that it has earned the 2017 Military Friendly® School designation by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs® and Military Spouse. This is the fifth consecutive year that Herzing University has earned the Military Friendly® distinction.
Herzing University provides veterans with a number of tailored pathways and initiatives designed to help them achieve their academic goals. In addition to accepting both state and federal financial benefits, Herzing offers a Military Appreciation Grant providing veterans with a 10 percent discount on tuition. Herzing also offers two unique military initiatives – Vet2RN and Vet2IT – that allow veterans to receive academic credit for specific military experience towards nursing or information technology degrees.
“We’re proud to be recognized once again for our efforts to focus on the educational needs of veterans and current service members,” said Dr. Michael Bankey, U.S. Army veteran and Vice President of Community Partnerships and Veteran Affairs at Herzing University. “We have a long tradition of supporting veterans at our school, which was founded in 1965 by U.S. Navy Veteran Henry Herzing and his wife Suzanne.”
First published in 2009, Military Friendly® Schools is the most comprehensive, powerful resource for veterans today. Each year, the list of Military Friendly® Schools is provided to service members and their families, helping them select the best college, university or trade school to receive the education and training needed to pursue a civilian career.
Herzing University will be showcased along with other 2017 Military Friendly® Schools in the annual Guide to Military Friendly® Schools, special education issues of G.I. Jobs® and Military Spouse Magazine, and on militaryfriendly.com.
Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from Victory Media’s proprietary survey. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for Student Retention, Graduation, Job Placement, Loan Repayment, Persistence (Degree Advancement or Transfer) and Loan Default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.
