Herzing University Now Offering Evening Nursing Classes at Kenosha Campus
MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. (Dec. 20, 2016) – With the Wisconsin Center for Nursing projecting the statewide nursing gap to reach 20,000 by 2035, Herzing University is helping to fill the need by expanding its Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program to include evening classes at its Kenosha, Wisconsin, campus.
With the addition of evening classes, students have the flexibility to take all or some of their core nursing and general education classes after normal business hours. Students also have the option to participate in required nursing clinicals during the days or evenings, in addition to some Saturday sessions.
The BSN program, also available at the university’s Madison and Brookfield campuses in Wisconsin, is open for enrollment for the spring session beginning January 2017. Students can enroll directly into the BSN program and finish the degree coursework in three years. Herzing offers spring, summer and fall semesters each year, allowing students to earn the degree more quickly than traditional four-year BSN programs.
“Nursing remains a very in-demand career field, across Wisconsin and the nation, so it makes sense to offer more education opportunities in the Kenosha area,” said Jeff Hill, Kenosha Campus President at Herzing University. “Adding evening classes to our BSN program was a natural progression because so many of our students are adult learners with full-time jobs or other obligations.”
Herzing University, an accredited private nonprofit institution with 11 campuses in eight states and an online division, also offers an RN to BSN bridge initiative that allows registered nurses to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing in as little as 12 months. The program is open to licensed, registered nurses who hold an associate degree or diploma in nursing from a nationally accredited school.
The university, known for its small class sizes, flexible schedules and supportive learning environment, is also transfer-friendly, offering several degree pathways for students to accomplish their academic goals. Through Herzing’s DEGREE UP program, students with an associate’s degree from Gateway Technical College in Kenosha can transfer directly into the BSN program. Tuition in the Herzing University nursing bachelor’s degree program covers several additional items, including uniforms and books, which is often not the case at other schools.
Herzing University also offers Wisconsinites a variety of other nursing and healthcare specialties, including an online Master of Science in Nursing degree for family nurse practitioners and nurse educators.
The Kenosha campus is at 4006 Washington Road. For more information, visit the campus during business hours or call 262-671-0675.
