Herzing-Brookfield Provides “Blessings in a Backpack”

As part of an ongoing partnership with Blessings in a Backpack of Waukesha County, Herzing-Brookfield students and staff are helping to bridge the gap for impoverished elementary school children by filling students’ backpacks with food for the weekend. Every Friday, Herzing-Brookfield volunteers travel to local elementary schools and distribute food to more than 300 students in Waukesha County.

Herzing-Brookfield began its partnership with BIAB in January 2017 and participated in the organization’s annual bag fill, during which more than 200 community volunteers spent the day filling bags of food to be used throughout the next year at select schools. Herzing has also committed to a weekly volunteer schedule with Heyer Elementary in Waukesha, WI for the 2017-2018 school year.
