Two Herzing University-Kenosha students, Ayesha Ransom and Alyssa Murata, have been selected to serve on the Wisconsin Student Nursing Association (WSNA) Board. The students were honored at the 70th Annual WSNA Convention on February 1.

Ayesha Ransom was elected Southern Regional Director and will serve as the “go-to” WSNA representative for the southern Wisconsin region. Alyssa Murata was elected to serve as the Breakthrough to Nursing Director, whose duties include increasing awareness about the nursing profession and encouraging students to choose nursing as a career.

Ayesha and Alyssa are enrolled in the BSN program at Herzing’s Kenosha campus and will graduate in August 2020. They also serve as the treasurer and vice president, respectively, of the local Kenosha Student Nursing Association chapter.

“We are very proud of Ayesha and Alyssa,” said Dr. Jeff Hill, campus president of Herzing-University-Kenosha. “We were also pleased to have 15 of our students attend this conference, which was one of the largest groups from all of the Wisconsin schools.”

Herzing University-Kenosha also received the “Breakthrough to Nursing Award” for its Lunch & Learn nursing education series, which was developed with input from the Herzing-Kenosha SNA in December 2018. Past session speakers included the Kenosha County Division of Health and Flight for Life. Upcoming sessions will focus on oncology nursing, hospice nursing, NCLEX preparation and nursing safety in the workplace, featuring speakers from Aurora Healthcare and other local organizations.

“These programs allow us to enhance our nursing education and support continued learning and career development for our nursing students,” said Hill.
