Herzing University Professor Receives National Award from American Medical Technologists
The American Medical Technologists presented longtime member, educator and State of Missouri AMT President Alberta Smith its 2016 national award for Exceptional Merit in the allied health profession.
The award, which is only given to members who have served the AMT for at least seven years and made significant contributions to the organization, was presented at an AMT conference last month.
“Alberta Smith has been integral in providing subject matter expertise to Herzing’s online students in medical assisting and medical office administration,” said Nigel Longworth, President of Herzing Online and CIO. “Her accomplishments demonstrate the level of skill she is bringing to our classroom.”
Smith has been the MAS/MOA Program Chair at Herzing University Online for more than five years. She has been president of the State of Missouri AMT chapter for a decade. AMT previously awarded Smith the Distinguished Achievement Award in 2007 and the President’s Award in 2010.
