Alumni Spotlight: Ryan Monroe - Delivering Hope for Brighter Tomorrows

Herzing University Akron Ohio Campus

Inspired by Ryan’s efforts, the Akron Campus chose to hold a food and item drive to benefit Springtime of Hope this holiday season. The response from our students, faculty and staff was overwhelming and beyond our expectations. We collected approximately 1,000 pounds of canned goods and six large black trash bags full of clothing, blankets, gloves, scarves, hats, toiletries and much more. The volunteers at Springtime of Hope were so thankful and overjoyed with the amount of goods collected!Ryan Monroe graduated from Herzing University in September of 2013 with an Associate of Applied Science in IT/Networking. While attending Herzing, Ryan was a federal work study student, Booster Club member, and also volunteered for Springtime of Hope Ministries, here in Akron. Springtime of Hope, which celebrated its 6th anniversary in November, is a 100 percent volunteer-based organization where 100 percent of proceeds go to the people they serve. They currently operate five transitional homes for men in Summit County and are in the process of opening their first women’s transitional home in early 2014. Springtime of Hope Ministries also serves homeless and needy individuals and families.

In addition to dedicating himself to the Springtime of Hope charity, Ryan just enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in IT/Networking with a concentration in Network Management with plans to start classes in January. We thank you, Ryan, for being a positive example of how one can better the community while bettering himself. We couldn't be more proud!
