Samantha Sprasky, who earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Herzing’s Kenosha campus in 2019, was recently nominated for a DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses. This prestigious award was created by The DAISY Foundation to recognize the work nurses do for their patients and families.

Sprasky, who works as a registered nurse (RN) at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was nominated earlier this year by the family of a patient she cared for who was going through some very difficult times. The family lived out of state and said they appreciated Sprasky going above and beyond to keep them updated on the patient’s status so that they could be at the patient’s bedside when needed.

“It means so much to me that this family went out of their way to express their gratitude to me for doing what I love,” Sprasky said. “I truly wasn’t expecting this during my first year as a nurse.”
