Herzing-Atlanta and Life South Blood Center Team Up for Community Blood Drive
On August 13, Herzing University-Atlanta organized a community blood drive in partnership with Life South Blood Center, a local, non-profit blood bank serving more than 100 hospitals in Florida, Georgia and Alabama. The event was held at Woodruff Park in downtown Atlanta, adjacent to the new Herzing-Atlanta campus.
“Blood donations from caring individuals are critical to our community’s health,” said Herzing-Atlanta campus president Chris Chavez. “We’re proud to partner with Life South on this event and to potentially make a life-saving difference for someone in need.”
Donors enjoyed snacks and refreshments in addition to a live broadcast and raffle from local radio station Streetz 94.5. Herzing advisors were also in attendance, offering information and Herzing “swag” giveaways for current and potential students.
In total, 27 people donated blood, which will benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds there is someone in the U.S. who needs blood. One donation has the potential to save three lives.
Thank you to all the Herzing students, staff, friends and families that donated!
