I was looking to further my career in healthcare and a wonderful opportunity was offered through my employer and Herzing University. I applied, got accepted and found myself very grateful for the help everyone offered me at the school!
The biggest challenge I faced was balancing my family, full-time job and school all at once. I had long days during my journey, but it did get better as I got acclimated with the process.
This program is very organized and planned out on time, and I found that Clinical Labs I & II were very helpful. I have not been a student for over 30 years and a lot of the new information and procedures were very surprising to me, but I had help every step of the way! For example, working with a proctor eased my nerves when it came to lab draws and injections.
I chose the medical assisting program to further my career in healthcare and that is exactly what happened! This degree allowed me to do more hands-on patient care and to do more than just administrative duties. I'm currently employed at a local children's hospital and have transitioned into a Medical Assistant role. This is an excellent degree to help you enter the healthcare field!
