For nursing student Jessica Smith, it’s all about the faculty. In her book, they get an “A+.”
“The faculty here are outstanding. It’s what I value the most about being at Herzing,” says Jessica. “Not only are they caring, but they’re good at what they do. The nursing faculty know their practice inside and out, and can paint a real picture for you because of their experience.”
One of the reasons Jessica chose the nursing program at Herzing University’s Akron campus was because of its reputation for having a supportive learning environment.
“They don’t just teach you, they support you. The individual attention from my teachers has made such a difference for me,” says Jessica. “It’s a more personal experience at Herzing. I actually know my teachers, which makes learning more enjoyable.”
Jessica is equally pleased with her classes and Herzing’s hands-on approach to learning. What she likes the most is how the career-focused classes and clinicals provide real-world experience.
“They make it fun to learn every aspect of nursing,” Jessica says. “The clinicals start early. During the fundamentals part of the program we work with patients in a nursing home. It’s a completely different experience working with real people.”
After graduation, Jessica would like to work in a hospital. She also wants to continue her education and earn her bachelor of science in nursing (BSN), and eventually get a master’s degree in nursing (MSN). Wherever her career takes her, Jessica is confident that she’s prepared for anything.
