Omaha School of Massage and Healthcare Offers New Chiropractic and Personal Training Programs

New Chiropractic Technician program is the only one offered in Nebraska

OMAHA, NE (February 17, 2014) – Omaha School of Massage and Healthcare of Herzing University (OSMHC) is now offering two new programs to help local residents qualify for careers in the exciting fields of chiropractic science and personal fitness training. Students can now become chiropractic technicians, also known as chiropractic assistants, by earning an associate of science degree or a diploma in the only program available in the state of Nebraska. Those who would like to become personal fitness trainers can also now earn an associate of science degree or a diploma in personal fitness training.

“Our premier chiropractic technician program gives students access to an additional career path that is not available anywhere else in the state,” said Steve Carper, campus president, Omaha School of Massage and Healthcare of Herzing University. “We are very excited to open up both our personal fitness training program and our chiropractic technician program to provide greater opportunities in the ever-expanding healthcare industry to students who are looking for new career options.”

Chiropractic technicians assist in running the chiropractor’s office and also work with patients. Their typical duties include registering patients, managing equipment and supplies, handling medical billing and teaching patients to follow chiropractic plans. They also take x-rays, assist chiropractors in exams and conduct re-exams for patients in longer-term care plans.

Students in the chiropractic technician programs will be prepared to take several industry exams, including the Nebraska Limited Radiography Exam administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the Certified Chiropractic Professional Coder exam through the AAPC.

The associate of science in chiropractic technician program requires approximately 20 months for completion and the diploma in chiropractic technician program requires approximately 12 months for completion.

OSMHC’s personal fitness training program is a great option for people who want to help others become more healthy and fit while working in a health club or wellness center or even for a sports team. Many personal trainers also go into business for themselves serving individuals who prefer a personal fitness program with privacy and flexible scheduling.

Personal fitness training students will gain skills and knowledge in kinesiology, nutrition, evaluation of client fitness levels and motivating clients. The 10-month diploma program and the 16-month associate degree program in personal fitness training enable graduates to be prepared to take the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certification exam to enter the field as an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT).

Applications are being accepted for May 2014 for the new chiropractic technician and personal fitness training programs. To learn more or register for classes, students are encouraged to contact OSMHC at 1-800-596-0724 or visit http://herzing.edu/omaha.
